Active in Belgium and Luxembourg, our client is a company specialized in the development of large size real estate projects. The company counts about 50 employees working in Belgium and Luxembourg in what can be described as a “family-atmosphere” within a demanding and technical working environment. For their Luxemburgish offices we are looking for a:

 

Head of Project Development (m/f)

Ref. HL2020-1188

 

He/she will be part of the Management Team and will focus on managing the office (currently a team of 8 people) and oversee all real estate projects in Luxembourg.

 

Major responsibilities

 

The responsibilities will mainly include, yet not be limited to:

  • Manage, motivate, coach and develop a team of Project Managers and Office Assistants, assigning tasks and managing the team’s workload. 
  • Manage and oversee the entire real estate projects processes to ensure all are run as optimally as possible. Build and maintain a good helicopter view on the office’s activity. 
  • Provide guidance and support your project managers in managing the entire building permit process
  • Assess and drive the optimization of all business-critical processes in close collaboration with the Management Team. Ensure that those processes are efficient and aligned within the Luxembourg office, the overall people strategy and organisational structure of the company
  • Set out and follow-up on project goals, objectives and deadlines in collaboration with the responsible project managers. Offer support and intervene as required to avoid deadlocks and ensure smooth delivery of all projects
  • Oversee the operational execution from the acquisition of the project, including start of construction operations, through to the commercialization
  • Maintain contact with the main stakeholders such as architects, contractors, notaries, brokers and other external parties. Anticipate and solve important topics as well as possible issues as they arise.
  • Drive, guide and support the team on financial topics in close collaboration with the financial team in Belgium
  • Provide support in evaluating price offers in a critical but business-minded way
  • Ensure the team is continuously up to date in terms of product and market knowledge
  • Reporting to the CEO and being part of the management team: provide input towards the optimisation/harmonisation of processes and organisational structure within the company, working in close collaboration with colleagues heading Project Development activities in other countries.

  • Collaboration with Head of Project Development of other countries to optimise structure and way of working.

 

Profile requirements

  • Master’s degree preferably in Civil Engineering, Architecture or Real Estate, or a proven track record in Real Estate Development at senior level position(s)
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and a positive, pro-active and cooperative attitude
  • Successfully reason, plan, execute and solve problems, measure results and adjust accordingly
  • Analytical and change management skills: capacity to evaluate and optimise existing operations and structures
  • Thorough understanding of the design and construction of buildings and the ability to evaluate various sketch proposals within a short timeframe
  • Advanced knowledge of project-based work or relevant experience as a project leader & process manager
  • Structured approach, driven by targets and capable of motivating others to work within deadlines
  • Business savvy, competent in identifying and capitalizing on opportunities while managing controllable expenses
  • Act independently and with a sense of initiative, but also a team player who can listen to the wishes of others
  • Excellent communication skills in English & French on a senior level, knowledge of Dutch, Luxemburgish or German is an asset
  • Willing to travel on a regular basis (mainly to headquarters in Antwerp)
